Norwegian twins Kine and Einy Paulson of Ingri:Dahl have designed a 2012 Spring Collection of fashionable 3D movie glasses for in-home and theater viewing. I read about this upstart company at kickstarter.com and was impressed with the founders’ straightforward appeal. Their background at USC’s Marshall School of Business has evidently served them well as entrepreneurs. These two ladies possess savvy marketing skills, employ expert use of social networking techniques, and have a remarkable ability to command PR buzz to promote their hip collection of trendy new styles. I especially like Ingri:Dahl’s “Popcorn” model (how cute and spot on is that for a name?), and think it will be their #1 selling product to the 3D viewing public.
I often wondered how studios reconcile the need to charge a premium for viewing a 3D movie, then quickly diminish the whole experience by distributing cheap, uncomfortable eyewear that could become unsanitary if shared with others. Thank goodness a company like Ingri:Dahl came up with a line of products that addresses all of these issues and hits the market just when they’re needed most. Sony Pictures issued a press release in September 2011 stating that they will not be giving away 3D glasses at theaters in 2012, and I suspect other studios will follow suit. Ingri:Dahl is well positioned to take advantage of this change, as their 3D glasses are compatible with movie theaters world-wide, and can be used on 3D TVs manufactured by LG, JVC and Vizio. Their 3D glasses are not a one-size-fits-all solution, they’re designed to fit your style and face, and a clip-on version is available for wearers of prescription glasses.
Please note: I did not create this video. It was embedded from youtube.
If the young entrepreneurs reach their funding goal of a modest $10,000, they will be able to pay for the launch of their 2012 Spring Collection. Apparently, they’re tapped out on funds, and every dollar pledged counts towards their goal. Even so, Ingri:Dahl is donating 10% of their proceeds to charity. Hooray!
For a tiny $15 pledge (conveniently billed through your Amazon account in 2012 if they hit their target), you’ll get an “awesome” Ingri:Dahl t-shirt and the twins will make you a partner on their website, and, they promise to make quite a big deal about you on Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Tumblr, et al. I’ve got a feeling they’ll be launching their Spring Collection even if they don’t reach their funding goal (maybe a relative or perhaps a celebrity will step up with a well-timed endorsement), but don’t let me stop you from pledging to help them anyway.
Do a good deed today and pledge to Ingri:Dahl. You’ll be helping them while helping yourself to any “trickle down” PR. A small pledge won’t hurt your pocketbook, and neither will their current line-up of eyewear, which is readily available at www.ingridahl.com. Pledge to Ingri:Dahl at kickstarter.com and help out these smart, fashion forward entrepreneurs. You’ll soon be enjoying a richer, 3D viewing experience, and looking good in 2012 while doing so.
